Our 7th annual Asheville Percussion Festival 2018 will be held June 25-July 1 in beautiful Asheville, NC. The Intensive Program, June 25- 29 includes the Friday night concert. Please note that Masters Concert this year is Friday night June 29 at Diana Wortham Theatre. Free workshops at Odyssey Community School on Saturday June 30 and a Sound Meditation on Sunday, July1. Engage in a world of rhythm. Come enjoy a creative environment where percussionists and dancers of all traditions, from around the globe, gather to explore, create and innovate. The festival will be hosted by Asheville's ambassador of rhythm, River Guerguerian. World-renowned artists will collaborate and create original compositions during the Intensive Program week. They will also teach a week-long intensive program, give workshops/demonstrations on Saturday for the public, perform a concert on Friday evening, and facilitate a sound meditation on Sunday.
The intensive program, workshops, and sound meditation will be held at the Odyssey Community School. 90 Zillicoa St., Asheville, NC, 28801.
The Intensive Program will include 2 tracks: World Percussion for Emerging Drummers and World Percussion for Intermediate/Advanced Drummers. Both tickets include 5 hours of classes per day Monday, June 26 - Thursday, June 29, and 3 hours of classes on Friday, June 30. An Intermediate/Advanced ticket will also include an hour of rehearsal per day with the Teaching Artists and performing in a group piece at the Saturday evening concert. Throughout the week, there will be an open Collaboration Room for participants to get together, jam, and share ideas. Intensive Program tickets include the Friday evening concert and Sunday morning Sound Meditation.
All workshops and activities on Saturday, July 1 are free. Please register for a free ticket on the Tickets page. A Free Workshop Ticket includes entry into all activities on Saturday at the Odyssey School, but not the Friday evening concert at the Diana Wortham Theatre or the Sound Meditation on Sunday. Topics will include performing, rhythms from around the world, and dancing taught by world-renowned performers.
The Friday evening Masters Concert will take place at 8 p.m. on June 29 1 at the Diana Wortham Theatre in downtown Asheville, 12 Biltmore Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801. The concert will feature original collaborative compositions created by our world-renowned Residency Artists during the residency week. A separate ticket is required.
The Sunday Sound Meditation will take place at on July 1 at Odyssey Community School. A separate ticket is required.
Other activities and amenities will include a silent auction, vending, demonstrations, a food truck and ice cream.

Hello Percussionists & Rhythm Lovers,
We are excited that you have chosen to attend Asheville Percussion Festival 2017! Our world-class Residency Artists create a unique and inspiring musical experience for everyone involved. The mission of Asheville Rhythm is to provide a creative environment where percussionists of all traditions gather to explore, create and innovate.
The Saturday evening Masters Concert will take place at 8:00pm at the Diana Wortham Theatre (entrance to theater is under the marquee and through the courtyard at 12 Biltmore Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801) in downtown Asheville. The concert will feature collaborative compositions from our world-renowned teaching artists. Please allow extra time to park. TICKETS

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:
- Please bring your own instruments. For Free Saturday Workshops, rental instruments will be available (e.g., Congas, Djembes, Frame Drums and Doumbeks)
- Pen, pencil, notepaper and/or personal recording device for classes and jam sessions, bottled water/drink, snacks (some will be available), yoga mat for Sunday sound meditation.
- A joyful willingness to share and learn about the wonderful world of Percussion!
There will be vendors featuring products from local and national drum makers including Cooperman Frame Drums, Carolina Drumworks Snare Drums, TMF drums and Cajons, Skinny Beats Drum Shop, Hands on Fire Tank Drums, Medicine Wind Flutes, and BRR Cajons. See below.
We will have musical instruments and beautiful crafts donated by our generous sponsors.
There will be Food Vendors on site Saturday - Cecelia's, High Five Coffee and the HOP ice cream.
FOR THE INTENSIVE PROGRAM:

During the Intensive Program there will be an area where you may swap ANY unwanted drum gear for something that you may need.
TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATIONS:
If you are flying into the Asheville-Hendersonville regional airport, downtown Asheville is 20 minutes away. Greenville/Spartanburg, SC (GSP) is a 75 minute drive. Charlotte NC (CLT) is a 2 hour drive.
